| An experiment in technique. I created a chaotic picture of texture by layering different color splashes and coats of gesso with no real thought on composition (or anything really... mindless painting). After about 5-8 coats (I lost count, lol) I let it sit for a few months. Next came hours of sanding. This blended layers together and created new colors and crazy cool textures. When it started to look nice and balanced and I was happy with the colors, I started to study the composition that had been brought about. Much like looking at clouds and seeing things that are not actually there (Pareidolia). Eventually I saw a face (one of the easiest things for a human to recognize) and proceeded to bring to life the image I saw. Thus, creating something from chaos, being inspired by that chaos and painting what I see in the painting, instead of a preconceived idea or something I looked at in the world being replicated on the canvas.
